I’m SO excited to say that I got tickets to attend the fantastic Anatomy Lab LIVE; a travelling interactive exhibition promising dinner and dissection. What more could a girl want?!
The event promises to teach its attendees the science of dissection and gives you an up-close experience of how the human body works beneath the skin. The organisers do this by introducing the audience to VIVIT, the worlds only semi-synthetic human cadaver. Semi-synthetic because it uses pig parts, some of which quite closely mimic human elements.
Anatomy Lab LIVE will be holding tours at the locations below, with tickets selling for £79 per person. This includes a glamorous two-course meal before the show begins and your very own surgical kit which is yours to keep!
So what will you learn?
The VIVIT is systematically dissected, taking you on a tour of the following:
- the head and brain
- the spinal cord
- the lungs
- the heart
- the digestive tract
- the urinary system
- the extremities
This means that by the end, you will have witnessed what happens at a post-mortem!
Along the way, you will be taught the pathology of major diseases such as Alzheimer’s, meningitis, stroke, Parkinson’s disease, IBS, cirrhosis and tons more..!
Once the live show is finished you will don your surgical robes and pick up your dissection kit and get into teams to carry out your own dissections!
As far as writing research goes this is on the more extreme side, but I can’t wait to find out more about how a post-mortem actually works and am quite curious to see what we look like under the skin!
If you made it to the end of this post and aren’t completely freaked out, you can find out more on the Facebook page or go straight to book your tickets here! *WARNING* the Facebook page contains some pretty gross pictures of disease and various stages of a dissection – it’s definitely not for the faint-hearted!!
Please let me know if you’re going in the comments below!!
